The Thirteen Month Series

Thirteen keys that can unlock the Tower's heart—or shatter it.

The Thirteen Month Series

The Thirteen Month Series is a set of thirteen legendary, sentient weapons forged by the Workshop and gifted to the Great Warriors who first climbed the Tower. Each weapon is bound to a specific month of the Tower's calendar and possesses its own distinct shape, color, and will—making them not only coveted symbols of the Great Families' might, but also volatile artifacts that can reject, betray, or consume their wielders. More than mere armaments, they are keys to the Tower's deepest mysteries, and their presence in any conflict signals stakes that could reshape the Tower's highest floors.

Lore & Background

The Thirteen Month Series was forged by the Workshop in the Tower's primordial age, when the Great Warriors were still climbers, not kings. Each weapon was named after a month of the Tower's calendar and infused with a fragment of its first wielder's soul, granting it a sentient will that can grow, change, or even defy its owner. The weapons are as varied as the months themselves: the Black March, a needle-like sword that can shrink to the size of a pin or extend into a deadly lance; the Green April, a whip-blade that coils and strikes with serpentine precision; and the Yellow May, a radiant weapon said to pulse with healing light. Each carries its own personality—some aloof, some wrathful, some mournful—and they remember every hand that has held them.

In Their Own Story

In the dim light of the Workshop's forge, the Great Warriors stood in a circle, their eyes fixed on the glowing weapons before them. The air hummed with power as the first of the Thirteen Month Series was presented—a slender blade that seemed to pulse with a life of its own. 'This is the Black March,' the Workshop's master announced, his voice echoing off the stone walls, 'a key to the Tower's future—and a lock for its past.' As each warrior stepped forward to claim their weapon, the Tower itself seemed to shudder, as if recognizing the birth of legends that would shape its destiny for millennia. But in that moment of ceremony, none of them noticed the faint, knowing smile on the master's face—or the way the weapons seemed to whisper to one another in a language older than the Tower.

Reader's Guide

The Thirteen Month Series are Ignition Weapons, meaning they can be 'ignited' to unleash their full potential—but ignition demands more than raw shinsu strength. It requires a compatible personality, a bond of trust, and often a willingness to surrender part of oneself to the weapon's will. Each weapon has a signature ability: the Black March can pierce virtually any defense, the Green April can bind and constrict with crushing force, and the Yellow May can mend wounds and restore vitality. However, these weapons are notoriously picky—they can reject a wielder outright, or worse, corrupt them over time. The series is also rumored to be tied to the Tower's ultimate lock: gather all thirteen, and you might unlock the final floor, or gain control over the Tower's very structure. Currently, most are held by the Ten Great Families, but a few—like the Black March—have been entrusted to Regulars as tests or rewards, making them the spark for countless battles and conspiracies.
