Yama is the undisputed king of the Canine People, a race created by the Workshop to serve as living weapons. Unlike many of his kind, who were born in captivity with diluted bloodlines, Yama was a natural-born canine person, making him a pureblood and the strongest of his race. He rules the 40th Floor with an iron fist, maintaining order through sheer terror and respect for his power—any who challenge him are either devoured or broken. His loyalty to FUG is conditional; he primarily seeks to protect and elevate his people, often clashing with other Slayer Candidates like Karaka for resources and influence, and once spent time in a FUG prison for refusing to bow to their commands.

In Their Own Story

The air on the 40th Floor reeked of iron and wet fur. Yama sat on his throne of bones, his massive wolf ears twitching at the faintest sound of a challenge. A lone Regular, trembling, had been sent to deliver a message from another faction. Yama didn't speak—he simply rose, his shadow swallowing the room. The Regular's words died in his throat. With a single, effortless swipe, Yama sent him crashing through three walls. 'Next time,' Yama growled, his voice a low rumble, 'send someone worth eating.'
