Tower of God Codexery

White

A soul-devouring swordsman who hungers for godhood.

White

White is a legendary High Ranker and one of the most fearsome Slayers of FUG, the organization dedicated to overthrowing Jahad's empire. Originally known as Hoaqin, he is the eldest son of the Great Warrior Arie Hon and a master of the Arie Swordmanship style, which he perverts into a bloodthirsty technique that consumes souls to amplify his power. White's identity is fractured into multiple personalities—each a warped fragment of his original self, bickering and scheming within his mind—and his ultimate goal is to absorb enough souls to become a complete, god-like being capable of challenging the Ten Great Families and Zahard himself.

Lore & Background

White's true name is Hoaqin, and he is the firstborn son of Arie Hon, the patriarch of the Arie Family and one of the Great Warriors who climbed the Tower with Zahard. Unlike his father, who values honor and technique, Hoaqin developed a forbidden form of Arie Swordmanship that allows him to absorb the souls of those he kills, gaining their strength, skills, and even fragments of their memories. This practice led to his exile and eventual rise as a Slayer within FUG, where he became known as White, the 'White of the Sun.' His soul-consuming ability has fractured his consciousness into several distinct personalities—the calculating Hoaqin, the sadistic David, the childish Albelda, and others—each vying for control. White's ultimate ambition is to gather enough souls to become a 'complete being,' a perfect entity capable of rivaling even the Family Heads and Zahard himself. He harbors a deep-seated rivalry with Baam, whom he sees alternately as a useful tool, a worthy opponent, and a threat to his grand design.

In Their Own Story

The air on the Hell Train's hidden floor grew cold as White stepped forward, his blade gleaming with an eerie light. Before him, a dozen Regulars trembled, their weapons shaking in their hands. 'You think your numbers matter?' he whispered, his voice a chorus of echoes from the souls within him. With a single, graceful slash, he cut through them all, their life force drawn into his sword like a whirlwind. As he absorbed their essence, a faint smile crossed his lips—each soul brought him closer to the throne he sought, a throne built on the ashes of the Tower's old order.

Reader's Guide

White is a complex antagonist whose character arc revolves around his obsession with power and identity. Initially introduced as a mysterious figure during the Workshop Battle, he later reveals himself as Hoaqin, a fragment of the original White. His role in the story is to challenge Baam's growth, both as a physical threat and as a dark mirror of Baam's own potential for corruption. White's powers are centered on his unique Arie Swordmanship, which he uses to absorb souls, granting him enhanced strength, speed, and the ability to manifest multiple combat forms—each reflecting one of his fractured personalities. Key defining moments include his defeat at the Name Hunt Station (where his arrogance cost him against Baam), his uneasy temporary alliance with Baam against the Hell Train's guardian (a rare moment of shared purpose), and his eventual resurrection as a complete Slayer during the Last Station arc, where he nearly consumed Baam's soul. White's narrative highlights the dangers of unchecked ambition and the cost of sacrificing one's humanity for power—a lesson he refuses to learn even as his own soul crumbles.
